I really love focusing in and seeing the structure and beauty of the natural world. I find a lot of pleasure in picking a random square foot of earth and looking really closely at the plants and animals living there. See what ones I know and what ones I don't, see the ants scrambling over the surface, the worms in the leaf litter, the textures and gestures made by simple blades of grass, clover, wood sorrel, wild strawberries, mushrooms, trees, roots, dirt and rocks. They have deep and profound relationships to each other that we can never know, but I feel like by closely observing them, I become more part of them and they, in a small way, become part of me.
