Some of the figures you see drawn here, culminating in the tableau that you see on the last webpage, come from a Toy Theater show/play called "Disembodied Saints", which I was working on in 2001-2002. The image formed the mask and curtain of the stage, and was based on an old English woodcut. The image shows a person(s) in various stages of life, ascending and descending, like a staircase. Each step of the journey is paired with a companion animal, which projects characteristics of life at different stages. While not directly related to the action of the play, the image invites the viewer to reflect on the journey of their own lives.
